Catalog of Works
Elise is composing and arranging something pretty much all the time. The rest of the time she can be found helping others along their music journey, digging around in some soil, or plotting the details of her next big project.
Elise Letourneau accepts commissions to compose new music. She specializes in music for choir, voice, piano, winds, and strings, but will consider all possibilities.
Elise also often has a commissioning consortium on the go. A commission consortium offers ensembles the opportunity to purchase a share in a new commission. They participate in a very real way in the process of bringing new music to life and receive the chance to premiere the work in their own area. Commissioning a brand new piece becomes financially accessible to more choirs, and Elise gets to keep composing. Everybody wins!
An associate composer of the Canadian Music Centre, Elise won the Ruth Watson Henderson composition competition, the Choral Canada (ACCC) composition competition, and the Diane Loomer award for choral composition. For four years running she was shortlisted as a finalist for The American Prize in choral composition. Blurring the lines between classical, jazz, and popular music, her compositions and arrangements have been performed across Canada and around the globe, by the Vancouver Chamber Choir, Canada's National Youth Choir, the Toronto Children's Chorus, The Salt Lake Choral Artists, the Cantiamo Girls' Choir, and The Bach Music Festival of Canada choir and orchestra, and other well-respected ensembles. Soloists who have performed her music include Colin Ainsworth, Leslie Fagan, Marcus Nance, and Rebecca Noelle. Her music is available through Cypress Choral Music, Canadian Music Centre, JW Pepper, Hal Leonard, Sheet Music Plus, Sheet Music Direct, Bandcamp, and her website.
Elise directs Voices Rock Medicine (Ottawa), a choir for female physicians, through Voices Rock Canada, based in Toronto ON. She teaches piano, voice, composition, and songwriting at Alcorn Music Studios. Elise performs as a solo artist, as a studio vocalist with The Fieldown Singers, and with Glamour Profession (a Steely Dan tribute band). She has shared a stage with Brian Browne, Paula Cole, Bob Dorough, Sheila Jordan, Janet Lawson, Janis Siegel, and others. She is working on her 7th recorded album.
Elise is a graduate of Berklee College of Music (Boston MA), and earned a M.Ed. specializing in creative arts and learning at Lesley College (Cambridge MA). She lives in Orleans ON.
