Elise Letourneau - Cover|Me

GigSpace Performance Studio, 953 Gladstone Avenue, Ottawa ON

Cover|Me is actually two concerts in one. In the first set, Elise Letourneau covers the songs of other artists - songs that have shaped her and moved her - in her signature earthy jazz-blues style. In the second set, Elise offers a rare performance of her own songs.

A multi-instrumentalist whose writing style blurs the edges between genres, Elise Letourneau picked up the pen at the age of 6. Her award-winning pieces have been sung on 3 continents, and she is becoming internationally known as a choral composer of uncommon lyricism who reveres the inherent rhythm of poetry.

Elise maintains an active performance schedule as a solo artist, with The Fieldown Singers, and with Glamour Profession (a Steely Dan tribute band). She has shared a stage with Brian Browne, Paula Cole, Bob Dorough, Sheila Jordan, Janet Lawson, Janis Siegel, and others. She teaches piano, voice, flute, and composition at Alcorn Music Studios, and directs the annual Ottawa Singer-Songwriter Camp. She is the director of the Carleton University Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Elise is an associate composer of the Canadian Music Centre, and for four years running she was shortlisted as a finalist for the American Prize in choral composition. She is a graduate of Berklee College of Music.
