It's Septembertime Again!

Hi Everyone! -

Back to school also means new opportunities for music learning.

There are still a couple of spots remaining on my roster for private lessons at Alcorn Music Studios. Together we can work on piano, voice, flute, theory, songwriting, composing, arranging, or a combination.

If group learning is more your thing, I'm offering 3 classes this term.

There's the Singers' Rhythm Section Workout, where you'll learn the stagecraft skills required of a jazz vocalist, creating lead sheets that work and pulling together your singer's book, and sing with a 4-piece band. This is geared to singers who already have the basics under control.

There's Step Up to the Mic, a performance development course where you'll have the opportunity to sing with an accompanist, and you'll sing both lead and backing vocals. You'll learn what it takes to prepare and perform the songs you love.

And there's Sing Your Heart Out, which is a gather-round-the-piano repertoire type of class. You’ll pick up some technique tips along the way, and get some coaching in harmony singing, all in a fun and supportive atmosphere. The theme of this term's class is "Women Who Rock", and we'll revisit the songs of Heart, Fleetwood Mac, The Pretenders, Blondie, Joan Jett, Bonnie Raitt, Amy Winehouse, and more.

Also, based on the success of the AMS JamBand program, we are developing a vocal harmony groups program. Please let us know if you are interested in singing in a coached small vocal group.

Please contact Alcorn Music Studios directly to register.
